‘7-Minute Miracle’

Bullet-TrainCould you imagine cleaning a bullet train in 7 minutes?

This is a reality for Tokyo’s Shinkansen bullet train cleaning crew. They have just 7 minutes to prepare/clean the train.

He/she cleans the seats, trays, and floor, as well as lifting shades and turning the seats around (using a magic button).

One cleaner is allocated to one car of 100 seats. Each cleaner does 20 cars per shift and the cleaners’ average age is 52.

About 323 Shinkasen bullet trains depart Tokyo station daily, carrying 400,000 passengers a day.

At the end of each train clean, the cleaning crew lies up and bows, a demonstration of pride and diligence.
