Room 16 and Room 11 pupils at Bluestone School in Timaru achieved their goal of winning the first CrestClean Cleanest Classroom competition for Term 1.

As a reward for their hard work, pupils were treated to a pizza lunch.

Cleanest Classroom competitions are held at many of the 262 schools that are cleaned by Crest franchisees. The classroom that is kept the cleanest in the school is awarded a certificate and a prize at the end of the term.

South Canterbury Regional Manager Robert Glenie says Principal Ian Poulter welcomed the competition.

“Everyone thinks it is a great idea,” he says. “Room 16 made it their goal to win the first round of the competition. The teacher was wrapped with the extra work the kids put in to clean up their classroom at the end of each day.”

Room 6 at Waimataitai School in Timaru were pleased they had won the Cleanest Classroom competition.

The classroom received sports equipment in recognition of their effort.

“Every afternoon the teacher would put on a special clean up song and the kids would clean up their classroom. The kids were very pleased with the sports equipment and they were excited to find out they had won,” Robert says.
