Browns Bay School praises cleaning team that always goes the extra mile

Since 2021, North Harbour franchise owners Eloy Capati, Jean Capati, Tushar Patel, and Nikita Patel have been the team behind Browns Bay School’s spotless classrooms. Looking after 34 classrooms every day is no small task, but they handle it with ease and professionalism.

To celebrate another successful year, the team recently hosted a morning tea for staff as a way to say thank you for the four-year relationship.

Property Manager Mike Miller says the team does an exceptional job. With 650 students and 60 staff, Browns Bay School is a busy place – and naturally, a lot of rubbish is generated each day. To keep things running smoothly, the CrestClean team splits up and takes responsibility for different areas of the school. It’s a system that works well, keeping everything organised and efficient.

Even though the cleaners often arrive after everyone has gone home, their work is clear the next morning when staff and students walk into a fresh, clean school.

“We appreciate the high quality of cleaning we get from CrestClean,” says Mike.

“They go the extra mile, especially when we have unexpected incidences.”

He’s also grateful for how reliable the service has been after experiencing poor service from previous providers. Before the school brought CrestClean onboard, teachers complained daily and Mike was often left to clean the classrooms himself.

Now, he says he no longer has to worry because “everything is always to a high standard.”

One thing he especially values is the Friday sanitising of desks and tables. It started during Covid to help minimise infection, but the team have continued this each week as a way to keep germs under control.

With an after-school care programme and frequent evening events, flexibility is a must, but the team is happy to adjust their schedule accordingly. As the year wraps up and the calendar fills with end-of-year celebrations, Mike says he’s impressed by how seamlessly they adapt to it all.

Mike says one of the biggest reasons the partnership works so well is the open, easy communication. He feels comfortable reaching out to either North Harbour Regional Manager Neil Kumar or the cleaning team directly to ensure everything runs smoothly. Often, a quick phone call or email is all it takes to get things sorted.

“Communication is key,” he says. “You only get problems when people don’t communicate.”

With four years left until retirement, Mike hopes this cleaning team will stay with Browns Bay School right through to his last day.

“They’re very much appreciated by the staff. I’m very happy to have them onsite.”
