CrestClean has proudly sponsored new uniforms for the NZ Levuka Football Club – a team made up of talented young players aged 18 to 21, including the son of CrestClean franchise owner Praneel Prasad. Seeing a need for local representation in Waikato, Praneel took the initiative to form the team himself.
The idea began when Praneel wanted to ensure his son could play in a league without needing to travel out of town. He also saw football as a way to help young men stay focused and motivated.
When it came time to name the club, Praneel wanted it to reflect both his pride in New Zealand and his Fijian heritage. Inspired to represent both countries, he chose the name NZ Levuka FC as a tribute to Levuka, the former capital of Fiji.
The team now competes in major tournaments such as the Battle of the Giants (BOG) in February and the Inter-District Championship (IDC) in October, which brings together around 17 international teams.
In preparation for last October’s IDC tournament, the team approached CrestClean for sponsorship, who were happy to step up and provide brand-new uniforms featuring the CrestClean logo.
Despite being the youngest team in the tournament, NZ Levuka FC made it all the way to the semi-finals, a result that Praneel says has strengthened their drive to go further this year.
“Our boys were so nicely presented in their CrestClean uniforms,” says Praneel.
“They are very proud, motivated young boys.”
When the team’s white kit clashes with another team’s uniform, they switch to a blue alternate, sponsored by Waikato Regional Master Franchisee Nivitesh Kumar.
Praneel works hard behind the scenes to make the tournaments possible, arranging long stays in Auckland, sourcing accommodation and running fundraising events to cover costs. Having the uniforms sponsored by CrestClean was a huge help, easing some of the financial pressure that comes with preparing for each competition.
To show appreciation for everyone who supports the team, NZ Levuka FC hosts an awards event after each tournament.
“We like to show our appreciation to those who support us and help the boys develop,” says Praneel.
Outside of football, Praneel has been a proud CrestClean franchisee for almost 19 years. Having his own franchise means he gets to enjoy a great work-life balance and stay involved in the sport he loves, which his two sons, aged 11 and 20, are also passionate about.
Praneel says being part of CrestClean gives him the freedom to do what he loves, with the support he needs behind him.
“I love it. I love being with CrestClean.”
