When cabinet maker Binesh Naidu looked at the family budget he knew he needed to do something soon as the demand for his skills was in decline.
It was 2012 and the building slump was hitting hard in Tauranga and Binesh and his wife Mani were worried about having enough to meet their household expenses.
At the time they had just purchased their own home in Tauranga. As his work began to dry up he needed to find something that offered financial security.
Fast-forward to 2017 and life has never been better for the couple as they’ve just celebrated five years as CrestClean franchisees.
Binesh, who is originally from Fiji, remembers the tough times before they purchased their own cleaning business.
“I was working shorter days as a cabinet maker and my income was falling,” he says.
“I had bought a house and I was worried about not having enough income to make the payments and the mortgage was high at that time.”
He bought a small CrestClean franchise and his wife, who had been working at a mussel factory in Tauranga, eventually joined him full time in the business.
Over the past five years they’ve more than doubled the size of their business. They enjoy the flexible working hours and say it gives lots of quality time together.
“We love having our own business. It’s like our own thing, and we just do our job and we’re very happy,” Binesh added.
Jan Lichtwark, CrestClean’s Tauranga Regional Manager, said the Binesh and Naidu were excellent franchisees.
“They are very passionate about their business and work very hard.”
He said they were very customer-focused and went of their way to check that everyone was happy with the cleaning services they provide.
“They are very committed and they are always thinking about the future,” he added.
