No one was more surprised than Julie Ashton when a letter of appreciation arrived from St John managers.
Working throughout the covid crisis, Julie has been busy carrying out her usual cleaning duties at the Richmond Ambulance Station, ensuring everything is clean and hygienic for the frontline personnel who work from the base.
Her dedication to the job has been recognised in a thank you letter to CrestClean from the emergency service organisation’s local bosses. It was signed by Anne-Maree Harris, Nelson Bays Territory Manager, and James McMeekin, Tasman District Operations Manager.
They said: “This time we find ourselves in is unprecedented for the modern day and we have very much appreciated the support that you have provided to St John Ambulance as an essential service provider.
“On behalf of the Tasman Operations Management, we wish to acknowledge your contribution and ask that you pass our gratitude to your staff who have assisted us during this challenging period.”
For Julie the feedback was especially welcome and appreciated. “It feels like you are doing a little bit for the community to help out.”
Cleaning gives her a lot of job satisfaction, she says. “It’s more than just a job. It’s what I’m good at and I enjoy the work. A lot of my customers appreciate what I do for them and that’s a good feeling.”
Barbara de Vries, CrestClean’s Nelson Regional Manager, says Julie is at the top of her game and her cleaning is extremely detailed.
“She’s a very good cleaner and will go above and beyond what she needs to do for her customers.
“When we receive good feedback like this it just shows that we have highly committed people in our organisation who take a real pride in what they do and their work is being noticed.”
