It was a small gesture but the gift of some cleaning equipment has made a big difference for an Auckland school.
To generate some extra funds, Avondale Intermediate School allows its hall to be hired out over weekends to local community groups.
Although the arrangement had been working well, some hall-hirers were better than others at tidying up and leaving the hall in a good state for when the school week began on Monday morning.
CrestClean’s Auckland West Regional Manager Caroline Wedding came up with a novel solution that would benefit the school and her franchisee Shalvin Raj.
Caroline dropped off some mops and a bucket, plus some cleaning cloths and toilet cleaner. The donated gear ensures hall-hirers are able to clean up – and the move saves Shalvin an extra trip to the school at weekends.
The gesture was well received by Jo Hardwidge, Avondale Intermediate School Principal.
“It was easy for us to give the hall-hirers some gear,” said Caroline. “By doing this we are supporting the school and our franchisee.”
She added: “We are appreciated by that school community for the little things we do. Little things can go a long way.”
