Sri strengthens team connection over shared Sri Lankan lunch

Auckland franchise owner Sri Gunasingam recently brought his team together at CrestClean’s Auckland office for a relaxed catch-up and shared lunch. The week before, the team had held a formal health, safety and wellbeing meeting over Teams to go through all the key topics, and Sri decided it would be nice to follow that up with something more informal so everyone could get together in person.

The earlier meeting was focused on strengthening communication and making sure everyone is on the same page with expectations across the business. The team went through a range of practical health, safety and operational topics including chemical safety, personal protection and hygiene, infection prevention and control, equipment care and many more.

Sri holds a catch-up with his team every six months, giving everyone a chance to stay up to date, refresh their knowledge, and make sure all his employees are working to the same high standards across different sites and locations.

After the formal meeting, Auckland Central Regional Manager Dries Mangnus joined Sri’s team at the Auckland office for an authentic Sri Lankan lunch. The food was specially ordered and included traditional dishes such as chicken curry, spicy squid curry, dhal curry, rice, roti, fresh salad, and watalappam (cardamom spiced coconut custard) for dessert.

“The team thoroughly enjoyed the meal, and it helped create a warm and welcoming atmosphere where everyone felt like one family,” says Sri.

The team enjoyed sitting down together and sharing a meal in a relaxed setting. It was a nice chance to step away from the usual work routine and simply enjoy time together as a team. Sri says these catch-ups are just as important as the formal side of things, as they keep the team feeling connected and supported

“It was a valuable experience for everyone and helped strengthen team relationships.”
