CrestClean’s Tauranga owner-operators are well used to the regular scrutiny of their vehicles and equipment.
More than 40 vehicles were checked over during the twice-yearly audit. Pinakin Patel, the company’s Tauranga Operations Manager, says he was delighted at the high level of compliance.
The business owners take a lot of pride in keeping everything shipshape, he says. It sets a high standard.
“People are watching us on the road and when we are at work. When they see our vehicles are clean and tidy and are well organised it sets the right example.”
The audits are held throughout the country to ensure the same high standards are maintained wherever CrestClean operates. Vehicles must meet strict compliance guidelines as part of the company’s Health, Safety and Environmental Management System. It’s a thorough process.
The checks are also essential for maintaining CrestClean’s Environmental Choice NZ certification. CrestClean is the only national cleaning company to have this valuable third party endorsement.
“These checks mean we can get everyone on the same page, whether they are in Whangarei or Invercargill, we can maintain the same standards everywhere,” says Pinakin.
As well as vehicle checks, other inspections focus on the equipment carried in each vehicle.
Chemicals used for cleaning are examined to ensure they are correctly labelled and have the corresponding material safety data sheets, which are required to be carried in vehicles. Electrical equipment is also scrutinised to see if it has a current test and tag and is fit for purpose.
The extensive auditing process includes ensuring the correct documentation is up to date. ID badges are examined along with uniforms and CrestClean business owners have their paperwork checked to ensure their business is compliant.
