Making sure kids have a clean and hygienic place to play is paramount for Alex Lopez.
As a dad himself, the CrestClean franchisee loves his job looking after two kindergartens in the Tauranga area where he sets the bar high in terms of cleanliness.
And his work ethic and attention to detail have won the praise of senior staff at Inspired Kindergartens.
Jacqui Pritchard, Head Teacher at Inspired Otumoetai, can’t speak more highly of Alex. “I’m just so impressed with the service we have,” she said.
“Alex has got an understanding of what we need. He understands that young children need to be in a hygienic environment.
“He keeps everything clean to a very high standard. We know we can rest assured knowing that everything is okay after he’s been.
“We have also enjoyed developing a friendly relationship with Alex as a local resident and father. We have been very impressed with his communication.”
She added: “He is very personable and will often pop in in the mornings to say ‘hi’ and check if we are happy and everything is okay.”
Jan Lichtwark, CrestClean’s Tauranga Regional Manager, said he has been impressed by the kindergarten organisation’s high standards, adding that they were very professional in every way.
“I like working with Inspired Kindergartens as they are a community-based kindy. They provide a fantastic service to the community and they ensure the kids grow and learn.
“The premises are very modern and they create a great environment,” he added.
Jan said he had not been surprised by the feedback received about Alex’s work.
“He was the winner of our New Franchisee of the Year Award. He’s been a great franchisee and goes out of his way for his customers. He takes great pride in everything he does.”
As well Otumoetai, Alex also works at Inspired Whakamarama. Head Teacher Joy said Alex does a great job.
“We recently changed from a local cleaner to CrestClean and we are very happy with their service. Alex has excellent communication skills and strategies.”
Alex, 33, is originally from the Philippines and joined CrestClean less than a year ago. He loves his work, which he says is a “great fit” for him.
“Being a cleaner and a dad is a nice combination for me. Working in a kindy is like working for my kids as well.”
Maintaining high standards is all about time management, he says. “I don’t rush when I go cleaning. I take my time to ensure everything is done thoroughly. That is important to me.
“When your customers are happy with what you do it’s rewarding to know that you are doing a good job. It motives you even more.”
Alex bought his Crest franchise in June last year and says he has been impressed with the training provided by the Master Cleaners Training Institute. Ongoing training and skills development is also provided to Crest’s franchisees.
“I like the continuous training and support that’s provided,” he said.
Before he joined CrestClean Alex was a caregiver for seven years. “Financially and time management wise, CrestClean has given me the flexibility to be with my family more,” he said.
He and his wife Cheryl, who works as a nurse, have three boys aged nine, five, and three.
